Northern Regards Artisan Market is excited to welcome back….
Anna Bradford
Here’s what the fantastic Anna Bradford had to say to our ‘get to know you better’ questions….
Why do you choose to use recycled/upcycled or sustainable pieces in your handmade craft ?
I work with recycled, upcycled and sustainable materials because I am interested in the ethics of consumption and fascinated by my own difficulty in finding products that have not been manufactured in ways that exploit people and/or the planet. It is exciting to me to do my best to create even the tiniest table of products created with zero exploitation of any person or thing.
Why is handmade important to you ?
Handmade is important to me firstly because it is a kind of work that brings a huge amount of joy and peace into my life. It’s a meditation and a yoga and a philosophy all in one and secondly, when done locally and without exploitation, it can be a delightful loophole in a soulless capitalist system!
Which is your favourite Melbourne suburb and why ?
My favourite suburb is Northcote, because it’s cheerful and friendly and lots of interesting things happen here.
When you are not making or selling at markets, what would we find you doing ?
When I’m not making things and selling them at markets, I’m busy writing children’s books.
Coffee or tea ? Wine or beer ?
Tea and neither, but if there’s cranberry juice I’ll be very happy!
So come on down to Northern Regards Artisan Market on Saturday 2nd November 11am til 4 at Northcote Social Club and enjoy Anna Bradford”s gorgeous creations!
We can’t wait to see you there!
